This week we take a look at three golfing events on which betting is available, the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, an inaugural event, the NW Arkansas Classic on the LPGA Tour and the European Tour’s Andalucia Masters.

No winners last week as such but Matthew Fitzpatrick so nearly got us a return when he went down in a playoff in Germany, Jason Scrivener led the Australians which we thought might be the case and although we struggled on the LPGA Tour it was so great to see Australian Hannah Green win her first LPGA Tour title and first major.

Here is a link to last week’s predictions.

Minjee Lee – is it her turn for major glory?

The major championship season continue this week with the staging of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at the Hazeltine Golf Club near Minneapolis.

I take a look at the chances in that event along with a look at betting possibilities at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship and the BMW International on the European Tour.

I also take a look back to see how we fared last week.

The US Open at Pebble Beach takes pride of place this week and although we will also take a look at the LPGA Tour’s Meijer Classic there is little doubt where most of the golfing world’s attention will lie.

I take a look at the leading chances at both events and also try and find a bit of value away from the logical selections.

This week we take a look at two events, the Canadian Open, the forerunner to next week’s US Open at Pebble Beach being played at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ontario, the first time at this venue since 2012 and the LPGA Tour are in Galloway in New Jersey for this week’s Shoprite LPGA Classic.

Last week we experienced mixed success, certainly JeongLee6 one of our selections for the US Women’s Open but not a lot of joy elsewhere unfortunately

This week we take a look at four golf events across the Globe on which betting is available, the most significant being the US Women’s Open, the most prestigious event in Women’s golf.

We also assess the chances at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio, the Belgian Knockout in Europe and the Gateway to the Mizuno Open on the Japan Tour.

Last week’s attention of the golfing world centered fairly and squarely on the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black but this week we take a look at betting prospects in events on the PGA, the LPGA and the European Tours.

The Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth is this week’s PGA Tour event, the LPGA Tour is in Virginia for the Pure Silk Championship while the European Tour is in Denmark for the Made In Denmark event.

Last week we covered out bets with the success of Brooke Koepka and while there is no point boasting about selecting a favourite it sure beats picking a losing outsider.

The PGA Championship earns the attention of the golfing world this week when the second men’s major championship of the year is played at Bethpage Black on Long Island just outside of New York City.

Brooks Koepka begins the event as the favourite and the defending champion and it would seem that given the demands of Bethpage one of the game’s leading half dozen players is likely to take the Wanamaker Trophy.

We also look back at last week to see how we performed.

This week’s events for betting assessment are the PGA Tour’s AT&T Byron Nelson Championship in Dallas, the British Masters in Southport in England and the Japan and Asian Tour’s Asia Pacific Open in Chiba east of Tokyo.

With just one week to go until the second men’s major of the year, the event in Dallas takes on even greater significance as the defending champion for next week’s event, Brooks Koepka, starts as one of the pre-tournament favourites.

One or two near misses with last week’s fancies but no chocolates unfortunately.

This week we assess the chances at three events, namely the PGA Tour’s Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina, the LPGA Tour’s Mediheal Championship near San Francisco and the Volvo China Open in Shenzhen.

We also take a look back at last week results and how our analysis then fared.

The 2015 PGA Championship Day’s greatest golfing moment to date – photo PGA of America

On a visit to my vault in a search for something else I found this audio piece I did with Jason Day soon after him announcing his decision to turn professional in 2006. It was on the eve of his first PGA Tour event at the John Deere Classic in 2006.

Looking back those nearly 13 years it is interesting to see how he felt, as an 18 year old, about the decision and his future and, perhaps surprisingly, how he thought he might have copped a little flack for turning professional so young.

That decision of course has been well and truly vindicated. Twelve PGA Tour titles including one major and two World Golf Championship events in addition to a World Cup of Golf Individual and Teams title, more than US$45 million in earnings on the PGA Tour and a total of eight top five finishes in major championships highlight an outstanding talent and an amazingly successful career already despite some, at times, debilitating injuries.
