The 2015 PGA Championship Day’s greatest golfing moment to date – photo PGA of America

On a visit to my vault in a search for something else I found this audio piece I did with Jason Day soon after him announcing his decision to turn professional in 2006. It was on the eve of his first PGA Tour event at the John Deere Classic in 2006.

Looking back those nearly 13 years it is interesting to see how he felt, as an 18 year old, about the decision and his future and, perhaps surprisingly, how he thought he might have copped a little flack for turning professional so young.

That decision of course has been well and truly vindicated. Twelve PGA Tour titles including one major and two World Golf Championship events in addition to a World Cup of Golf Individual and Teams title, more than US$45 million in earnings on the PGA Tour and a total of eight top five finishes in major championships highlight an outstanding talent and an amazingly successful career already despite some, at times, debilitating injuries.
