Amelia Harris’agonising loss at US Junior Girls Championship

After easily accounting for her opening round opponent at the US Junior Girls Championship in Durham, North Carolina, Victorian Amelia Harris’ bid to become the second Australian after Minjee Lee to win the event has been thwarted with an agonising second round loss.
Harris was two up through nine holes of her match against Canadian Shauna Liu and was still 1 up playing the last of their 18-hole encounter, but Liu won the 18th to square the match and then would do so again at the 19th hole to win 1 up.
Harris had won her opening round match against Rebecca Wang of China 6&4.
Lara Thomsen of NSW lost her opening round match on Wednesday.
