Sarah Kemp killed two birds with one stone at this week’s Freed Scottish Open, the 37-year-old New South Welshwoman, producing her second-best finish of the 2023 LPGA Tour season and earning a place in the field for this coming week’s AIG Open Championship.

Kemp needed to be inside the top three of the players not otherwise exempt for next week’s final major of the year and a final round of 70 at the event at Dundonald Links earlier today was good enough to secure a share of 9th place and a ticket to Walton Heath.

Kemp’s final round of 70 to get the job done was made even more impressive by the fact that she bogeyed two of her first four holes before bouncing back with four birdies over her closing 14 holes to earn US$41,000 and the right to play the AIG Open once again.

Kemp finished 6 shots behind the winner, Celine Boutier, who won again after claiming her first major title at the Evian Championship last week. Boutier had also finished runner-up in this event last year.

Minjee Lee and Stephanie Kyriacou served notice that their respective games were in good shape for next week’s task when they both recorded rounds of 66 to finish in a share of 13th place.

For France’s, Boutier, it would be her third win of the 2023 season and consolidates her position at the top of the Race to the Globe standings.
